The setup
Coursework where I had to get virtual machines, routing and server services working together instead of treating each configuration in isolation.
What I configured
- Built virtual networks using VMware and Rocky Linux machines.
- Practised routing and IP forwarding with FRRouting and OSPF.
- Configured services including DNS, IIS and FTP in Windows Server lab exercises.
Troubleshooting notes
Work through dependencies between addressing, virtual switches, routing, firewall settings and application services.
When a service did not respond, I learnt to check the addressing and routes before assuming the application was the problem.
